Castle Road of Priego de Córdoba

Taking advantage of the visit to the Castle, you can walk along a pedestrian street that traces the passable route between the fortress walls and those of the medieval town. This stretch exposes sections of the wall where you can appreciate the different construction techniques used during the Middle Ages. You'll be struck by the small door or postern of the 14th - 15th-century Castle, with a Roman inscription added in modern times as its lintel. The Mill of the Gate, which gives its name to the street, will transport you to a past where you can imagine the smells and the worldly noise of the village, inhabited by craftsmen, millers, carpenters, etc. The mill, attached to the Castle, was in use until the 20th century. Evidence of this is the millstone recesses of this flour mill, vaults that housed the waterwheels turning the grinding stones, now recovered. On the road, you can also visit one of the few preserved sections of the Islamic fortress from the 13th century.
